About this site

Difficult Person Test is a small independent website, launched in October 2026. It offers a free, open version of the seven-trait “difficult person” test, a way to rate someone else on the same traits, and short guides on what the results mean.

Who writes it

The site is published by Difficult Person Test as an organization. There is no staff of psychologists, and no content has been reviewed by a clinician or a personality researcher. We say this plainly because tests like this often imply more authority than they have. The research we cite was done by others; we link to it so you can check what it says.

How the test was built

The statements are from the public-domain International Personality Item Pool: seven scales from a research measure of personality-disorder traits, matching the seven antagonism factors described in a 2021 study. We chose the scales, set the order, wrote the third-person versions for rating someone else, and wrote all the interpretive text. The full method is on the items and scoring page.

What it is not

It is not a diagnosis, a clinical assessment or a hiring tool. Please don't use it to label other people publicly or to make decisions about anyone's job.

Independence

We aren't affiliated with the researchers whose studies we cite, with the International Personality Item Pool, or with any other test publisher. The site currently has no advertising and no affiliate links. See the editorial policy for how we source and correct content.
